Megan & Ben | Married – Roanoke VA Wedding Photographer
July 21, 2010 – 3:20 pm
I am in love with these photos and with this couple! Megan & Ben had the most amazing wedding and a super fun reception! Just the right amount of vintage touches, elegance, and relaxed fun.
Shoes!!!
Megan picked up all her jewelry, her dress, and her bridesmaids dresses at JCrew. It all came together perfectly!
I love this photo!
This cracks me up! The girls asked Megan if there was anything she needed to touch up just before the ceremony – make-up, lipgloss, perfume? Her answer – deodorant! Don’t hate me for posting this Megan!
Megan’s Dad waiting to give away his only daughter.
Emotions of the moment were written all over their faces. Priceless.
The music of the ceremony was so beautiful. Timeless and classic.
I’m not sure what he was saying, but it took him a while to hand Megan over to Ben!
They had a choir sing during the ceremony. A CHOIR! All of the singers are friends of Megan & Ben and they were joined by Megan’s Dad. I have no words to explain how beautiful it was.
So excited to be married!
A kiss from Dad.
Can I just say how cool a reception at the Transportation Museum is?! Amazing places to shoot, beautiful light, and a fun wedding party! So much fun!
First Dance + perfect light = Amazing!
Marvin & Kay (on the left) celebrated their anniversary the week before. Don & Angela (on the right) were celebrating their anniversary that day! 45 Years for each couple!
Megan & Ben dedicated a song to each of them! That’s something well worth celebrating!
Because the light was so amazing, we snuck off for some photos around the trains! When you plan even a small amount of time for the purpose of bride/groom portraits, you get incredible results!
One of my favorites! Megan you are gorgeous!
Megan’s family has a long history of railroad work. Thus the choice of reception museum. Everybody now…ahhhhh! Megan’s Mom put together an incredibly detailed display of photos and details of all the workers. It was so neat to read all the names and their duties and time spent working the rails!
Say hello to the bling!
Then it was party time!!! And let me tell you, these people knew how to PARTY!
Ride that train!!!
Just one from the awesome *perfectly* choreographed dance routine that Ben and his buddies performed!
Thanks guys for allowing me to spend the day with you and your family! I felt blessed to be a part of your beautiful wedding!

Megan | Bridals
July 10, 2010 – 12:31 pm
I knew Megan and Ben’s wedding was going to incorporate a some vintage touches, but when Megan sent me a picture of her bridal gown, I fell in love! I knew I had to find the perfect location for her bridal session. My mind went to work and finally, I settled on the beautiful bed and breakfast The Oaks. It could not have been more perfect! I am so excited to finally be able to share these with you! Megan & Ben were married about 2 weeks ago so wedding photos will be up soon. For now, enjoy our vintage inspired bridal session.
Megan was a vocal major, holds a position as music director at her church, her mom is an organist and pianist, and her father was a music director for many years. Music is in her blood! So of course we had to incorporate vintage music into her session!
Megan’s dress and jewelry were amazing! She was a JCrew poster child and is suited her perfectly!
The photo below on the right was displayed at the reception. I love it!
Check back soon for Megan & Ben’s beautiful wedding! Happy weekend!
Welcome to the new home of Lori Hedrick Photography!!!

So, it’s my birthday today and i am typing this blog entry while sitting in my new .. wait for it …
STUDIO!!!!
I really can’t believe I’m here! Since the official start of my business, almost 4 years ago, I have hoped and dreamed that one day I would move out of the tiny cramped corner in my basement into something I could call my own. Time has crawled and time has flown and now I find myself in a brand new place and ready to grow even more! This move is important on so many levels, personal and business. For my family, it means that when I am home, I’m really home. Not just there but off in the corner on the computer. It’s a way for me to separate business and life. The line between laundry and photos, phone calls and dinner, packages and clutter had become way too blurry! For business, this means that I now have a place to meet and chat. A place to walk you through your photos and help you choose the best ones. A place to show samples and get your creative juices flowing with ideas for decorating your home with beautiful photos! A place to meet with brides and grooms without the noise and chaos of the local coffee shop (but with the coffee of course!). I’m so very excited for this new adventure and can’t wait to see where it takes me! If you’ve been following my FaceBook page, you’ll know that I’ve been dropping hints for the past few days! So keep scrolling and see if you recognize any photos from the sneak peeks!
There’s still a lot to be done. Pictures need to be hung, a few pieces of furniture are on the way, and I searching for the perfect curtains. But for having just moved in on Tuesday, I’m thrilled with everything!!!
Welcome!
I’ll share more photos as things come together and I’ll even do a photo tour so you’ll know exactly how to find me! Thanks for all the love and support of my family and friends!
Kira & Travis | Married
June 26, 2010 – 1:13 am
Kira & Travis will have quite the story to tell about their wedding day! Their very personal, beautiful, intimate wedding didn’t go quite as planned. But in the end they were married and it was fun! Here is their story:
When I arrived at the Natural Bridge Hotel where Kira was going about making herself beautiful, it was hot and sunny!
Kira’s little party dress that you’ll see more than you might think!
Seriously cute shoes!
The most amazing bouquet I have ever seen! Kira searched Etsy and found a seller that made her button bouquet. Before I get slammed with emails asking what seller…Kira promised to send me the info as soon as she could!
I caught this image as we rode the shuttle to the Bridge and fell in love with it.
Plans were for a beautiful outdoor ceremony to take place at Natural Bridge. As we walked the path towards the Bridge, we heard the sound of thunder and the sky began to grow dark. Hoping it would pass, we waited for the last few shuttles to arrive.
But, no sooner had we rounded a corner to hide Kira than the skies opened up and the rain began to pour!
We made it to the bridge where everyone huddled together to provide Kira as much shelter as possible. This is the expression never left her face! Amazing!
Once everyone was transported back to the hotel, plans changed and the ceremony was moved inside the reception area. Travis and Kira didn’t care where it happened, as long as they were married! And, because both her long dress and beautiful shoes were wet and uncomfortable, she chose to finish out the day in the shorter, more comfortable dress and her cute boots! It seemed fitting and completely natural.
I love the way they look at each other!
After the ceremony we snuck off for some fun creative portraits. We were even able to catch a ride back down to the bridge!
Aren’t they just adorable!
Kira, thanks for being beautiful.
I loved their idea for a guest “book”! All the guest’s placed their thumbprints, like leaves, on the tree.
These beautiful bird favors were actually wildflowers made to be planted!
Of course I had to play up the button theme!
The cutest cake topper ever!!!
Kira & Travis, thank you for bringing me into your world. Your love is strong and wonderful. I was honored to be a part of something so special.
