I met Emily a few years ago while she was working for the local newspaper. The school my kids attended had a few newsworthy events, and Emily was there snapping photos with her camera On one occasion, Emily asked if I would mind sending her some of the photos I took, and I was happy to oblige! Little did I know I had gained a loyal follower, and a fan!! I’m not sure I know how many people Emily has sent my way. I know I was blessed enough to book Tess & Addison’s wedding 2 years ago because of her. And I know that I have the amazing wedding of Samantha & Key in a month, because of her.

But this time, it was her turn!!! Emily and Stephen knew when they were ready, and wasted no time in pulling their wedding together It was perfect! Yes, it rained. Yes, it was wet. But for Stephen and Emily, the day was exactly what they wanted it to be – their wedding day!! I was so blessed to be a part of their day. So thrilled to capture this couple, who are perfectly matched. So happy to call them friends Enjoy!Emily was so nervous in the moments leading up to the First Look!!! But once she saw Stephen, it all melted away, and she was radiant!! And, I am so happy they did a first look, because right after all their photos, the rain started!!!Love the one on the left It’s so them!!!Emily’s dog Peyton was technically the “ring bearer”. Even though she’s a girl. And she didn’t carry the rings. See the gray skies!! I love how dramatic they made these photos!I squealed when I took this photo!! If you had been there, you would have known how much effort it took to get a dog and a toddler to stand still for 10 seconds!!! These two are the best of friends As the rain rolled in, so did the moisture! We were waiting to see if it was going to pass, and Emily was getting hot!!! The rain didn’t pass, and in fact became quite heavy later! Emily was determined to get married on the front steps, even in the rain. So that’s what she did!!!One of Emily’s requests was that we show off all the argyle socks. Check and mark!

Mike & Molly & Sydney & Levi | Family

Last week I was able to head to Memphis TN to visit with my sister and her family for a week. I treasure this time together, as it doesn’t happen often!! While we didn’t do much sight-seeing with a 20-month-old, and a 7-week-old, it was lots of fun, and I got my fill of baby snuggles!! The weather was perfect for spring photos, and I know I may be a bit biased, but these kids are adorable!! Enjoy

Jennifer & Brendan | Engaged

When Jennifer and I began chatting about her wedding, she mentioned two things that were very important to them – for Brendan, it was having their wedding somewhere near the water. For Jennifer, it was the photography. She worked hard to make sure that they both were able to have those things, and I am so excited to be able to photograph their wedding later this year at the Pete Dye River Course!

She also mentioned their little boy, and that he was 6 months old. So of course, we had to include Carter in our session!! I can’t wait to see him all dressed up for the wedding!! We spent all of our session in Downtown Roanoke, and had so much fun. The light and the weather were perfection!!! I love these two, and their little family Enjoy!!

I want to eat his cheeks!!! And those eyes – so beautiful!!!So cute!!!I can’t resist baby feet Then Grandma took Carter home, and we spent the rest of the evening making beautiful pictures of just the 2 of them!Such beautiful light!! I love how Brendan makes her smile!!This wall was so fun!!Love this one!!Jennifer, you are beautiful!!! I can’t wait to see you in your wedding dress!!!

Cherice + Mitchell + Marian

This crazy warm weather has made it feel like spring already!! It has made my sessions so much fun and super easy!! We don’t have to worry about the cold It was such a beautiful day when I photographed this adorable family!! Cherice and I met when she was pulling together donation for the March of Dimes. Her little girl is so cute, and had the biggest smile the whole time!! Cherice has had a bit of a rough year with some health issues, but is on the mend, and her husband has been an amazing support through it all I loved spending time with this family, and I loved that little Marian loved my camera!!

Time for a change ;)

We’ve had a few issues with our Internet connection the past few weeks, so while I’ve been working on finishing wedding albums and editing photos, I haven’t been able to respond to emails or Facebook messages!! I’m working on that today, so if you’ve contacted me and haven’t heard back, I’ll be getting back to you this weekend! It’s also my “slow” time of the year and I decided that this year I wanted to turn my focus a bit more towards my website and blog. I’ve loved the look and feel of my site for the past 2 years, but moving into my studio space made me realize that I wanted to warm up my online presence. While I’m drawn to all things clean and modern, in real life, I liked to be surrounded by things of comfort! Cozy pillow, fluffy rugs, warm colors, dark wood! Anything that makes me want to curl up with a good book and take a nap! My studio has been so much fun to decorate and make feel like home, and I wanted my website to represent the same thing!!! So, I decided to buckle down these past few weeks and really come up with a look that was mine. Drawing inspiration from my studio, I added a few pops of color, and the hand-drawn camera icon my talented sister made for me, and here it is!!!! I’m so excited to share!!

The main page features a rotating gallery with some of my favorite images, and I hope to update this often with new photos!! Icons at the bottom will link you to my Facebook page, Twitter, and Pinterest pages. Click the “comment” flag at the bottom to leave a Facebook comment about the site, or the “proofs” link to head to my new proofing gallery!! It’s still a work in progress, so let me know if you need access to a gallery

I love it! Click on the “info” tab, you’ll find this fun area with links to info about where to find me and pricing, as well as more of my favorite photos!!

Flags at the top right access different galleries. The wedding gallery now features both engagement and wedding images!!

But wait!! That’s not all!! The blog has a new look also. And since Facebook just rolled out their pages for businesses, of course I had to update my cover image!!

Baby Will | Roanoke VA Baby Photography

There’s a new little Hedrick in town!! And he’s adorable!!! Baby William was born almost 2 weeks ago, and is the perfect addition to his family! His big sister Cate in in love, and so are Mommy & Daddy! I was able to sneak over to the hospital just before they were discharged, and grab a few of this 2 day old little boy!!Then I spent the morning last week photographing our first session at home! I LOVE the little tie!! William was so good, and didn’t hardly make a peep the entire time!! Now I just need to go back so I can cuddle!!This is in the running for one of my favorite baby photos of all time!!!!So sweet!!

When you know it’s right, why wait?! Engaged just a bit over a month ago, Emily & Stephen are working hard to be ready for their May wedding!! I now follow Emily on Pinterest, and I can’t tell you how excited I am for all her plans!!! It was soooo cold for our engagement session, but it was beautiful, and it just meant lots of snuggling! Thanks so much guys for hanging in there! I think it was worth it – I love your photos!!

Mike, Molly, Sydney, and ? | Family

During the week after Christmas, my family was able to get together for some down time at the beach! We spent a few days relaxing, playing in the sand, eating, playing board games, and napping! Since this was the last time I would see my sister Molly and her family before they grew by another member, we made time for a few family photos! These moss covered rocks were beautiful!! I could photograph there every day!! Baby Boy Patton is due to arrive soon, and I can’t wait to meet him!!!

When Amanda first contacted me and told me of her plans for a New Year’s Eve wedding, I pictured it almost exactly as it turned out!!! Months of planning, searching for the perfect dress, candy, flowers, hankies – all came together for a beautiful and intimate evening wedding! Amanda and Cameron were surrounded by the people they loved and who loved them, and they promised to loved each other forever. It was a great way to send out 2011 with a bang, and I enjoyed every minute of their wedding!!! Thanks guys, for being great!

Michael & Hannah | Engaged – Roanoke VA Engagement Photographer

Just after Christmas, I was able to meet Michael & Hannah, who were home from Seattle for the holidays! It was a bit chilly, and the break made VT campus a virtual ghost town!! But it was fun to wander around and not have to dodge cars and people everywhere!! I can’t wait for their wedding later this year! I love how our session went, I love how the photos turned out, I love how comfortable these two are with each other. I love what I do!! Thanks guys for wrapping up my year in a great way!
