During the week after Christmas, my family was able to get together for some down time at the beach! We spent a few days relaxing, playing in the sand, eating, playing board games, and napping! Since this was the last time I would see my sister Molly and her family before they grew by another member, we made time for a few family photos! These moss covered rocks were beautiful!! I could photograph there every day!! Baby Boy Patton is due to arrive soon, and I can’t wait to meet him!!!

As a Mom, I know how fast time flies. As a Mom, I know how I want to remember all the little moments. As a Mom, I know how important photographs are. As a Mom, I also know how difficult it is to pull the family together, coordinate outfits, set aside the time and just do it! As a Mom, I know how much I love when I make the time. As a photographer, I understand all of the above and that makes me love what I do even more! When Jim pulled me aside at church one evening and asked about doing a session, I was happy! When he mentioned it was a Mother’s Day present for Kim, I was thrilled! When Kim said they liked different and wanted something out of the ordinary, I was over the moon!!! We had a blast! These guys were so comfortable with each other and in front of the camera.

I think the back lot of a big funky warehouse qualifies as different, don’t you?!

Random pieces of metal just thrown in the grass make for great set-ups!

Funny back story – I asked everyone to have a seat on the ground in front of the funky steel beams. It wasn’t the most comfortable place to sit! Poor Carrie sat on a broken reed which poked her hard in the backside! What followed was a series of funny pictures with a mixture of laughter and pain! Thanks for being a trooper Carrie!

I know they look cool, but really they were hot! The sun was intense!

Then, out of nowhere, it started to rain! All we could do was laugh! I do love how you can see the raindrops in this one!

As quickly as it came, the rain passed. A wardrobe and location change and we were back on track! I really love this one!

I’m not sure whether to laugh hysterically or be moved by this image. You decide.

I always try to get a picture of just Mom & Dad. I know it’s so rare! I love the interaction between them!

I’m not sure, but I think Dad may have had something to do with the laughter here!

Hunter and Carrie know how to work the camera!

When you set up an outdoor session with me, one thing I will stress is shooting in the evening. Nothing can beat the light that comes from the setting sun! And yes, it’s supposed to be focused on the grass! It’s an artistic thing!

We are headed to the beach for a week of fun! Hopefully it’s not too hot!

In looking at some paperwork the other day, I realized that this month is officially my 1 year anniversary! In July 2007, I started up my website and blog and told the world that I could do this! It’s been an amazing year and I am so grateful to everyone who has supported me. To celebrate, I am giving away a $25.00 iTunes gift card!

Birthday Boy!

Eleven years ago, this was our newly expanded family!

We are now eleven years older and have expanded by another 5 kiddos! I can’t believe how time has flown! Wednesday was B’s birthday and we celebrated a few friends, homemade pizzas, a cool Narnia inspired cake and awesome presents!

I think his favorite present was a replica of Peter’s sword!

Here’s my guy now. 11 years old and so grown up! Love ya B! Happy Birthday!

July 4th on July 9th!

I know it’s a few days late but here are some pictures of our July 4th celebration! We had the annual cook-out-set off fireworks-go see more fireworks-kind of day! Nothing says summer like grilling hamburgers and hot dogs………

…..and a big glass of lemonade and ice tea!

The results! Aren’t you impressed!!!! The girls got a kick out of riding their bikes through the smoke after the firework was finished!

Later we headed to Green Hill Park for the fireworks show! While we waited the kids were a little bored, so Mommy to the rescue with her camera! They were twirling glow-stick necklaces Jeryl bought so we could keep track of them! Not the best photo, but not bad for a few glow-sticks, a flashlight and 6 kids who wouldn’t hold still!
