Baby Cate is 1!

It’s hard to believe, but Baby Cate is one year old!  Time flies with kids and they change so much!  I am so very happy to have had the opportunity to capture Cate over the past year as she has grown!  Cory went all out for her first birthday!  Pink was, of course, the main attraction!  Cate was adorable and family and friends enjoyed time with her!  Her are a few shots of the day.

Her reaction to everyone singing “Happy Birthday”!

Cake…..um…..not sure…!

Personal favorite!

Presents!!!!

The only girl around with a pink wagon!

Love from the Grandma’s!

The last in our sequence!  To see how much she’s grown, click here!

The Ridout Family

People sometimes ask me how I got started in photography.  Truth be told, I was interested in photography long before I had children.  But they certainly brought out the photographer in me!  When you have adorable babies, you must take pictures of them.  When you take lots of pictures of them, you must do something with the pictures.  Scrap-booking to the rescue!  My interest in scrap-booking affected my photography.  As I worked to put my pictures in albums, I began to want the pictures to improve.  Thus the photography began to evolve and grow and become something I love!  As for the scrap-booking, I still do it when I can and this is where Rachel comes in!  I met Rachel several years ago through a mutual friend.  As Rachel grew her scrap-booking business, I grew my photography business.  The two came together seamlessly when, at a scrap-booking retreat, I was able to take some family pictures of Rachel and her family!

Camp Alta Mons is a gorgeous location!  I loved this old house!

The light was amazing, when it wasn’t hiding behind the clouds!

The story of how God has brought Steve and Rachel’s family together always send chills down my spine!  There is much love here and their kids are all adorable!

This one is quirky, but that’s why I like it!  I think the kids thought I was crazy!

During my sessions, I love for kids to give me their ideas for pictures.  My rule is, we try my idea first, then I’m up for their ideas!  They love having input and sometimes their ideas turn out better than mine!

Case in point…. I love this one and it was totally Aaron’s idea!

I’m not even sure what to say about these next two, except WOOOOOOWW!

You guys were so awesome!  It was so much fun, I didn’t mind working on my vacation one bit!

Thank you Steve and Rachel for sharing your family with me!  They are precious.  Enjoy your slideshow below and I’ll see you soon!

The Davis Family

With the girls outnumbered 2-1 in this family, I knew our session would involve lots of balls, sports and outdoor play!  It’s a good thing our day was gorgeous!!  James and Laura have an amazing family with loads of energy, and plenty of love!

What better thing to do on a mild, fall afternoon than football!

Love his expression!

I’m not sure who was chasing who!

Gracie requested pictures on the swing!  I think she had fun!

Laura took Nathan for a ride and he giggled the entire time!

Brian showed me his new trick!

I loved the light in this one!

I so identify with this picture!  Our babies are growing up!

This shot cracked me up!!!  She’s trying so hard to fit in with the boys, and yet is all girl!

A quick change of clothes and location and we have a family portrait!

…but this is my favorite kind!

These kids are so gorgeous.  Seriously.

They must get it from Mom and Dad.

Thanks so much, Laura and James for sharing your afternoon with me!  I enjoyed your family immensely!

Christmas came early!!!

When my wonderful friend Lisa called me from the beach, I knew it was serious.  I mean, how often do you find matching p.j.’s for 5 kids!!  We HAD to do something with them!  Decorating a gingerbread house, hot chocolate by the fire, and bedtime Christmas stories to the rescue!  The kids had a great time and I loved capturing their interaction.  I’m told they were on a sugar high for hours after our session!  Enjoy a taste of the season, even if it is a little early!

Loved it Lisa!  Your kids are too cute!  Watch your slideshow below!

Mini Sessions – Round 2!

For my second round of Mini Sessions, the weather seemed as if it didn’t want to cooperate!  Some of you were scared off (you know who you are!:) ).  For the 2 families that stuck it out, it turned out to be an amazing evening!  The light was gorgeous and the weather mild.  A perfect day!  Todd and April booked their session first and then April’s parents decided to have one as well.  Since their sessions were back-to-back, we explored downtown Salem together and even got a few group shots!  Thanks guys for hanging in there, I think your pictures turned out amazing!  You were lots of fun and I’m still enjoying the gift card to Mill Mountain!

Don & Marie… so sweet!

I love this one!

This cute little entryway was fun!

I believe this truck holds lots of memories for these two!!!  ;)

The Shell family!  Love the light and the yellow tree in this one!
